Durga Mahisa-asura-mardini, the Goddess shown here slaying the demon Mahisa, which unsuccesfully hides under a water-buffalo disguise. This is a very old, particularly large slab of the kind used for the making of the dye-formed silver medals of the gods daily worshipped in hindu domestic shrines.

An exceptionally high quality painting of Lord Krishna as Nathwara's Shri Nath-ji celebrating Sharad Purnima. The image is shown wearing the specific dancing dress called kachni and decked out in his full attire of ornaments made of gold set with rubies and emeralds, and necklaces of pearls and lotus buds.
On the ground are an emerald-set gold box (paandan) and a vessel covered with a red cloth (jahari), the latter as a symbol of Yashoda, the god's foster mother.
Last half of XIX century, or early XX century. Maharastra? (India).

Lord Vishnu is depicted here resting on the three coils of the serpent called Sesa (Permanence) or Ananta (Endless), which symbolize the residues of past universes. The serpent makes a canopy over Him with its five heads while His feet are massaged by consort Lakhsmi and an attendant honours Him with an offering of flower petals.
Tempera and gold foil on board, the celestial beings further enriched with glass diamonds and emeralds, and mock pearls.Tanjore (Tamil Nadu,India) XIX century.
